Get in quick! LPM exclusive 10oz variant of Dragon & Phoenix silver coin limited to just 888

One of the many limited run silver bullion coins to emanate from the bowels of the Perth Mint, the 2017 Dragon & Phoenix coin was the first design in this heavily Chinese-influenced range and was hugely successful. Last year saw Dragon & Tiger  join the line-up, but the first coin to join them in 2019 isn’t a new design, but a new variant of the first issue.

The Perth Mint has long offered ten-ounce bullion coins in its core ranges, but very rarely in its more exclusive offerings, so its good to see Dragon & Phoenix appear in the larger format. Better still, this will have huge appeal to collectors with its relatively tiny mintage of just 888 pieces. Exclusively distributed by popular Hong Kong based dealer LPM, the coin mintage is a nod to the number eight’s lucky nature in Chinese. Whatever the reason, this is an extremely low mintage for a bullion coin and we’d suspect the coins on offer won’t hang around for long.

This issue also marks the first time the series has used the new international Jody Clark penned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, replacing the Ian Rank Broadley version that has adorned the obverse of Australian coins for many years.
