T&S Coin issues their first ever coin for the lunar calendar, and for 2026, it’s the Year of the Red Fire Horse.
We used to try to cover all of the many lunar coins that were released, but with twelve designs in every series, it soon became both a chore, and less interesting for the reader. However, we do take the occasional look at new series entering the market, and that’s the case with T & S Coin, who have just debuted their first coin featuring the lunar cycle.
Next year, starting 17 February, is Chinese year 4724, and in the context of the lunar calendar, that’s the Year of the Red Fire Horse. Most producers will just go with the basic animal, in this case the horse, but the calendar also varies the type of animal. Previous horses, for example, have been Green Wood, Black Water, White Metal, and Brown Earth. These, along with Fire, make up the five elements in Chinese mythology, with their associated colours. Hence, for 2026, we have that Red Fire Horse.
The coin plays into T&S Coin’s wheelhouse, being a 2oz antiqued, high-relief design, and these renders point to an impressive design. The colouring of the muscular horse is rich and well-chosen, and the exaggerated tail and mane certainly point to red fire. The high-relief horse is backed by a gilded moon, complete with craters, and that is surrounded by a florid pattern. The horse’s eye is inset with a small black diamond. There are no inscriptions here, which is a big positive, in my view. A fine addition to the genre, it comes boxed with a COA, and is available to pre-order now.
Also, recently released was the latest coin in their Legendary Warriors series, produced in collaboration with Pinehurst Coins, who also offer an undenominated silver 1oz bullion round variant. Miyamoto Musashi is considered one of the greatest swordsmen in Japanese history, and the coin is quite superb. You can check out all the designs in this 15-coin series released to date in our Coin Series profile, to which this coin has been added.
