Future in the Past 04: Genghis Khan copper round (2026 Hobo Coin)

Hobo Coin’s neat copper round mash-up of historical figures and cyborg technology, continues on with the release of the fourth in the ‘Future in the Past’ series. This time, there’s quite the change in design ethos, with the simple portrait on the reverse, and the symbolism on the obverse, giving way to some action-packed dynamism. The end result is very cool.
Genghis Khan is one of those forces of nature that has left an indelible mark on human history, and the tales of the Mongol Horde laying waste to Asia and Eastern Europe are well known. You can certainly picture the devastation that would have occurred if they’d have been technologically enhanced! The Great Khan is shown on the reverse face, mounted on a cyborg horse, and wielding an energy sword. He’s surrounded by his horde, and war is on their minds.
The obverse of previous coins has always focused on some appropriate symbol associated with the subject, but here we have his army lined up outside a metallic, glowing citadel, almost like a scene from the Warhammer 40k universe. This is very much a warlike culture. Inscriptions are kept to a minimum, and the border is small and neat.
As before, the round comes in a square capsule, and with a certificate of authenticity. The mintage is capped at just 500 pieces. In a market dominated by skyrocketing silver prices, it’s great to see this level of design still available at a more affordable level. Available to order now.
