Powercoin’s innovative Folded Dreams silver coin series jumps to the natural world with a paper frog

One of our favourite series from Roman producer Powercoin, is without question their unusual Folded Dreams coins. These reproduce some of the origami-style contraptions kids make from sheets of paper, and so far we’ve seen a Paper Airplane coin and a Paper Boat. For the third coin, we have another classic origami construction – the paper frog, which in paper form can be made to jump.

I’ve added a video lower down where you can see a paper one being folded, and it’s remarkable just how spot-on Powercoin have managed to make the coin. For something formed in metal, this is quite an intricate piece, and there are some neat touches incorporated, especially the thumbprint where you would make the origami frog jump. They’re definitely getting more ambitious with these.

The coin comes presented in a latex-skin floating frame, inside a themed slipcover, and with a certificate of authenticity. The mintage is 499, and the coin is available to pre-order now. A great addition to a quirky and innovative series that has a unique place in the market.
