PMC’s Mission X silver coin series gets a quick second release, with an assault rifle ramping up our special agent’s firepower

Singapore coin producer, Precious Metal Collectors, has already followed up Mission X: Pistol with the second issue in this secret agent inspired series, just two weeks after the first one launched. We liked that one, for its unique, innovative style, itself a reimagining of the earlier motorcycle-themed ‘Journey on the road’ silver coin.

The ‘Mission X Pistol’ coin was centred around a Colt M1911 pistol, and other equipment you could imagine a spy using when in a covert espionage role. Mission X Assault Rifle is more about the agent out in the field, and carries a considerably more action-orientated mix of equipment, with an M-16/M-4 as the primary item. With it are rappelling gear, grenades, knives and more, with a single knuckle-duster gilded as a focal point in the centre.

The obverse is similar to the pistol coin in basic layout, but with details themed more for the rifle, rather than the pistol. Like the reverse face, there’s plenty of high-relief in evidence, enhancing that ‘kit-in-a-tray’ look. These really are quite a unique looking range of coins, which is likely why they caught my eye. It’s all antique-finished. As before, the mintage is capped at 399 pieces, as this two-ounce silver coin should be available to pre-order now.
