An elegant Siamese Fighting Fish silver piece, and a detailed stackable Bighorn Ram, are Coins Today’s latest offerings

More silver from South Korea, as Coin’s Today debuts two new issues, one a medal and one a part of their extensive, and innovative stackable bullion range. Both are mintage limited, which seems to be an increasingly used thing from the producer, and both should be available to order now.

Kicking off the pair is the latest stackable two-ounce silver design, and it’s one from CT’s nature-orientated range, even if this one has a bit of that occult feeling to it. Nearly every one of these stackable designs has us scratching our heads as to how they manage to do it, and this one is certainly no exception.

Depicting a Bighorn Ram, it continues the trend of exhibiting an extraordinary amount of detail for its type, and we reckon it’s a terrific look at the beast. The high-relief on this one is particularly impressive, and the whole thing is visually very striking. It’s antique finished, and is supplied encapsulated. Just 15,000 of these will be minted, so considerably rarer than the usual unlimited numbers of earlier designs.

BIGHORN RAM STACKABLE

The second release is more of a curio than silver bullion, coming encapsulated on a ‘credit-card’ style, which also does double-duty as the Certificate of Authenticity. This piece is shaped like a Betta Fish, which perhaps more will know as the Siamese Fighting Fish. The Betta is a stunning animal, known for its brightly coloured body and extravagant fins.

Coins Today have done a fine job in realising the fish, having it turn upon itself to add depth. Like the ram, this isn’t a denominated coin, and carries no inscription, but this is clearly directed at a different audience. It’s a beautiful piece, and would make a great gift. It shouldn’t be too expensive, tipping the scales at an ounce in weight, and the mintage of just 999 ensures a little rarity factor. Not our usual thing here, but we thought it had appeal to the more mainstream collector.
