Australian Zoo bullion coin series is back with a pair of fine Cheetah designs, one in silver, one in gold

The Royal Australian Mint’s ‘Australia Zoo’ bullion coin series continues to grow with the addition of the second consecutive cat – the Cheetah. Last year saw a beautiful pair of Sumatran Tiger coins, which, as has become a signature for the series, employed a different design for the gold and for the silver. Both were excellent.

It certainly appears the mint will have little problem maintaining the high standard set by last years coin, as the Cheetah featured for 2021 is beautifully realised. and both variants are consistent in style, yet depict completely different views of the animal. The silver goes with a really fine looking individual in full sprint, is perfect given the speedy reputation of this magnificent feline. We can’t really fault the anatomy on this one at all.

The gold coin shows a Cheetah at rest, clearly done by the same artist. and makes a fine companion piece, even more so than the 2020 pair. Not much else to say really. A really attractive pair that are superior to most similarly themed designs, in our view. Both are available to order now, with the one ounce 0.999 silver coin having a mintage of 25,000 pieces, and the one ounce 0.9999 gold topping out at just 250. The former is provided encapsulated, but the latter is boxed with a Certificate of Authenticity. Distribution is handled by German dealer, EMK.

Australia Zoo is currently offering adoption packages for a Cheetah called ‘Lawrence’, so if you’re that way inclined, we’re sure they’d appreciate the help and this handsome beastie would definitely love a nice fillet steak for dinner. Check it out HERE.
