GERMANIA WORLD BULLION COIN RANGES by Germania Mint

While we have full bullion profiles of both Germania, and Allegories, the whole numismatic world that Germania Mint is building is quite a bit wider than that. There are a few currently smaller ranges that are even more interesting, bringing the current total up to five. This summary of them is not meant to be an exhaustive look at them, but rather a collation that you may find useful as a collector.

We’ve always admired what the Germania Mint has built here. These aren’t coins per se, as they’re undenominated in any actual currency, with the Mark values being completely fabricated, but the idea is to build up a range around the historical region of Germania, as known in late Roman times. To be clear, this is not Germany, but Germania, a region that covered a much larger part of Europe, including much of modern-day Poland, Denmark, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic, as well as Germany.

In this wide region were many peoples, mainly Germanic, but also Scandinavian, Celts, and more, so it’s a rich vein to mine for coin designs. We have Valkyries, forest flora, and mythical beasts, as well as the main female personifications that have popularised the range. A terrific example of world-building, we’ll use this guide to track new issues, with updates added to the changelog below. Titles with a red border are complete series, no longer getting new issues.

This series is unusual in spreading the complete design over both the reverse and obverse faces, with the mythological beast flowing from one to the other. Obviously, you will need two of the coins to show this, but fortunately, Germania Mint has a custom shaped capsule to hold them in the perfect position. There are special ‘Geminus’ versions for the well-heeled, but the designs work perfectly well in bullion quality.

2025 HEIMDALL

Ragnarök, the Norse vision of the destruction of the entire cosmos, right down to the gods themselves, is an epic tale, and a pillar of Norse mythology, involving most of the great figures in the pantheon, and creatures within their world lore. The world tree, Yggdrasil, will fall, the great wolf Fenrir will slip his chains, giants, and the serpent Jormungand will rampage the Earth. Gods and beasts alike will fall in battle, and everything will end. There are two designs each year, and they stand out with their black silver finish.

NORNS (2026-)

2026 SKULD

2026 WERDANDA

2026 URD

2026 OBVERSE

The Norns are three goddesses (although the Poetic Edda mentions numerous lesser Norns), usually associated with the fate of mankind, and somewhat analogous to the Fates in Greek myths. They live in a hall under one of the roots of the world tree, Yggdrasil. Urd is the oldest of the three, and she is linked to the past. Tending to the present is Werdanda (also called Verdandi), and looking to the future is Skuld. They are said to weave out a thread of life, with one spinning the thread, another measuring its length, and the last deciding when it should be cut, just like the Greek Fates, from where the idea may have originated. Germania Mint artist Kinga Sabatowicz has done an exceptional job with the design of these.

The Germania Mint’s flagship series, it was the first to appear, has the largest range of formats, and the most varied implementation of each issue’s design. Recent issues have seen the design actually morph across the four primary silver formats, telling a story, rather than just cropping a view, as in earlier releases. A particularly inventive bullion series, there are also one-ounce proof versions in silver or gold. In 2026, the gold bullion coin returned, the first time since 2020.

This range represents the first time that the Germania World has moved away from a standard round coin format. Witchcraft is octagonal. It also continues the practice of expanding out the field of view of the artwork used, for different variants, generally packing a wider view into bigger coins. However, despite being the same size, the ‘Ritual’ antiqued variant also does this. Designs are issued on a biannual basis. A two-ounce high-relief version (999 mintage) is also offered, although sold as a full numismatic, rather than as bullion.

No doubt inspired by the success of the Royal Canadian Mint’s famous Maple Leaf bullion series, Germania added their own twist with this Mythical Forest range. The region of Europe where the historic Germania existed, was home to massive, varied forests, so it’s a fine concept for their Germanic world. There’s only a one-ounce coin in the range, although they did dabble with a bullion gold on launch, with gold since only available as a proof, with silver available as both. Sadly, the series has now concluded.

A relatively new addition, Valkyries focuses on the women warriors of the old Germanian region, much like the Shield Maidens of Norse society. There’s only a single one-ounce coin in each issue, but it also has a customised obverse to boot. There are specials of each design, in higher weights, and with more exotic finishes – definitely not bullion coins.

The second most popular of the Germania Mint’s ranges, Allegories pairs Lady Germania with one of the many other national female personifications from around the world. Starting with Britannia, it has, surprisingly, just ended after six issues, with Galia. There’s a range of sizes, but unlike Germania, they all carry the same design. The unusual element here is thickness. Despite the ten-fold increase in weight, each format has the same diameter, with the extra metal being solely given over to thickness.
