Superman #1 is the second DC Comic cover in the NZ Mints large premium foil range
The second of the New Zealand Mint’s premium foil DC Comic covers debuts today and it features another truly classic example of the genre – Superman #1. Published in June 1939, it was the first true Superman comic, although not his debut, which happened in Action Comics #1 in 1938. Another comic that sells for ridiculous money, the cover by Leo O’Mealia has been a super-iconic classic and an obvious choice for reproduction in silver.
At an expansive 262 x 170 mm in size, these are much larger than the standard silver coin notes and the weight of 35 grams is indeed, seven times as much. The foil is again sealed in an acrylic frame which can be displayed on a wall or simply stand upright. A great way to display classic comic book art, it has a recommended price of $130.00 USD. Available today, they can be purchased from the mint or from many dealers including quite a few of our worldwide sponsors.
