As promised, here are the other nine coins from the ten released by the Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) to celebrate the holding of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada. Held every four years, women’s football has reached exceptional standards over the last few years and stadiums regularly sell out throughout the world, so this will certainly be a big event.
The RCM has already released a $20 for $20 coin just a couple of days ago which we’ve already covered along with more details of the tournament, so we’ll stick to the coins here.
All of them are struck to a proof finish, and none of them break the ½-ounce barrier, so although they’re not available for sale until 07 April, we’re not expecting prices to be out of reach on the silver. All six of the silver coins are designed by Greg Banning and they’re quite a dynamic mix, especially the player-focused uncoloured pieces. The gold are a little more generic in subject and are designed by Tony Bianco and one by Glen Green (The Trophy).
