Silver Pours goes fully dimensional with its cast silver anti-tank gun coin issued for Ghana
We’ve already covered a wide range of cast silver weapons of various types over the last year or two, and their popularity shows little sign of slowing down. While most releases tend to focus on bladed weapons, there are an increasing number of firearms joining them. Silver Pours latest release ups the ante with a piece of artillery, in this case what looks to be quite a close replica of a Second World War Soviet anti-tank gun.
The ZiS-2 was a 57mm calibre weapon, designed to punch through the armour of the latest generation of tanks being fielded by the Wehrmacht. It was initially only mildly successful, as rounds had a habit of passing straight through the more lightly armoured tanks, but the appearance of the heavier Panzer IV tanks gave it a new lease of life, and ultimately, almost 10,000 of them were built. Capable of 25 rounds per minute in the right hands, it’s possible that some were still in use in North Korea until recently.
The miniature is unusual in this genre in being a fully denominated coin, in this case for the African nation, Ghana. The issue details can be seen inscribed on the back of the armoured plate. The detailing is outstanding, right down to bolts and the tread on the tyres, and the whole thing is dark-coloured rather than plated.
Obviously, this type of coin isn’t for everyone, but those with an interest in the wilder end of the market, especially those having a fascination with militaria, it’s a unique piece, and appears to be very well implemented indeed. It comes boxed with a COA, and the mintage is capped at 498 units. This interesting coin should be available to order now.
