CIT have long been proponents of the minigold format. These tiny half-gram issues are eminently affordable, although not one for the stacker if you’re considering price-per-ounce, of course. They’ve issued some very neat pieces, including a whole series based around Ancient Rome, but it is their shaped minigold coins that jump the boundary between the coin collector and the wider market. These make great additions to jewellery, especially these skull coins with their wider recognition in popular culture.
This series is particularly unusual in having no date of issue. They are coins, issued for the Republic of Palau, but no date. These are also quite large for the format. most of the competition tops out at 11 mm in diameter, but CIT have been using a variant of their silver smartminting technique to expand these out to almost 14 mm, while simultaneously increasing definition and detail. Impressive stuff.
