Released in November 2021, this collaboration between Germania Mint and Numizzmi remain, for me at least, one of the finest coins ever released with the theme of prehistoric life. It’s a two-ounce silver coin which depicts that day in the Yucatan Peninsula some 65 million years ago, that an asteroid crashed into the Earth, ending the reign of the dinosaurs.

Cleverly sliced into the coin is a genuine piece of Muonionalista meteorite. The depiction of the Triceratops is utterly sublime, genuinely first class. The obverse shows the aftermath, with that Triceratops now a fossil. Like an idiot, I’ve just realised there are no close-ups of that skeleton, so I will take and add one.
