Precious Metal Collectors returns to its figure-8 Lunars with a beautiful Dragon & Horse two-ounce silver coin

It was with a Phoenix back in 2021 that Singapore-based producer, Precious Metal Collectors, first debuted its ‘Figure of 8’ coin style. The number eight has a significant association with good fortune in some East Asian nations, so its use on coins themed around that region of the world is an obvious one. While that very pretty coin was a standalone release, it was obviously successful enough to have PMC embark on a Lunar Cycle of issues, combining the dragon with the lunar animals, starting in 2022.

After going through the Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, & Snake in the following years, we arrive today with what we think is the best yet, the 2026 Dragon & Horse. The formula hasn’t changed, with that figure of 8 shape, and a ‘spider-web’ background that is, in fact, a representation of the Bagua symbol from Taoist cosmology, and meant to show the Eight Trigrams, used in Feng shui.

The star of the show remains the two creatures, and the dragon, the only one to feature on every issue, has never looked better than it does here, arcing around the lower ring of the ‘eight’. Topping that, however, is a stunning horse, its neck elegantly following the sweep of the upper ring to gaze directly into the face of the dragon. The whole thing is struck with ultra-high-relief, and antique finished.

The obverse face is simple, with this one issued for Samoa, after two years of Chad, and three before that of Tokelau. It comes boxed, and with a certificate of authenticity. A really excellent addition to what is one of the finest lunar cycle series of coins in production today. Available to order now, just 333 will be struck.
