Airplanes of Ukraine silver coin series restarts after a thirteen year hiatus with the Antonov 132
2018 ANTONOV AN-132
It isn’t often that a coin series continues 13 years after stopping, but Airplanes of Ukraine is one such. Following four coins issued between 2002 and 2005, this 1 oz coin series is back with the military transport aircraft, the Antonov AN-132. The reverse has a simple image of this quite unexciting aircraft (most of Ukraine’s combat aircraft are Russian in origin), but the obverse carries a superb looking depiction of flight using birds and a stylised sun – the same one that adorned the early coins. Available to order now, the mintage is capped at 3,500 pieces.
OBVERSE: above the inscription UKRAINE, under which the Small State Emblem of Ukraine; in the center there is a stylized composition: the sun, a stylized wing and birds; Denomination is 10 / ГРИВЕНЬ below, and the year of issue of the coin is 2018 (on the right)
REVERSE: in the center on the mirrored background is depicted an An-132 plane and the inscriptions: LETTERS OF UKRAINE (above) AN-132, AN-132 (below), between which is the logo ‘AN’
