WMF 2016: CIT debuts new Tiffany pair of coins amongst superb new launch
We’re in Berlin and later today the World Money Fair 2016 kicks off. Obviously we’ll cover as much as we can, although in-depth will have to wait until we’re back to base (writing this at 3am..) and there’s no better way to start than one of the numismatic worlds most anticipated launches, Coin Invest Trust’s very highly regarded Tiffany Art series.
This years follows the new pairing of both 2oz and 1kg versions that was introduced a couple of years ago for the 10th anniversary of the series (it debuted in 2004 although issued for Liberia back then) and the design remains consistent across the two weights. It is of course, another superb design, employing for the first time a new technique called micro-minting, which allows levels of relief and intricacy not seen before. We’ll have more information on the technique for later in the show.
As usual, these won’t hit the dealers for bargain prices, but anyone that collects these is going to want one. Anyone that likes art-architectural coins, and the number and quality of releases suggests that’s a healthy number of collectors, should have at least one Tiffany in the collection, and this is as fine as they get.
