Top World Coins updates two of its most impressive releases with selective colouration – The Comanches, and the T. Rex

Top World Coins have issued five new coins this week, and while we’ll have a good look at the three all-new designs shortly, here we’ll have a quick peek at two ‘Special Edition’ variants of a pair of their finest prior releases. Both remain fundamentally the same as their origin coins, even down to the mintage, with the difference being the employment of rich colouration in the background field on the reverse face. Both coins are boxed with a COA, and available to order now.

The Tyrannosaurus Rex coin has perhaps benefitted the most in our view. The colouring grounds this magnificent beast in its habitat, giving it added prominence, and allowing it to pop from the background better. The use of various shades of green also enhances the sense of depth. It isn’t a night and day difference, and we still think the original antiqued coin is outstanding, but for me, it’s a small improvement. The obverse remains unchanged.

The second refresh is of a coin first issued last October, and was the debut coin in a new Tribal Spirit series. Called ‘Comanche’, it was a stunning look at a proud, warlike Native American people, perhaps the most powerful of all the tribes of North America. As with the T. Rex coin, there are no changes to the reverse design, or the obverse, except for that colouring in the background of the reverse face. It’s less extensive, and to be honest, that’s probably for the best. A more complex, layered design, the colour has helped delineate the various elements a tad better, so we applaud the restraint. Whatever your preference for antiqued, or part coloured, this remains an outstanding coin, and we eagerly await the second Tribal Spirit release.
