The Royal Mint and the United States Mint debut their collaborative range of bullion and proof coins

Just a quick heads up that today is the day the Royal Mint/US Mint collaborative ‘Britannia and Liberty’ coin is released. We did a tease of it with information about a month ago, but the full specs are listed below, and we have images of what will surely be some very popular bullion variants in three formats, although we understand that will expand shortly. Our money is on a ten-ounce, and a kilo, but we’re guessing.

The info below is for the Royal Mint range, which is quite extensive, but there are also a pair of versions from across the Atlantic. These have the same basic design on the reverse face, except the border inscriptions include just the date, and the word ‘Liberty’.

Given the coin is supposed to be a joint effort from both countries, and the UK version includes inscriptions for both Liberty and Britannia, it seems kind of mean-spirited to leave Britannia off the US version. No doubt a political thing given the constant interference the government has in mint designs. The only other notable change is that Liberty is at the top on the US coins.

The obverse is completely different, of course, with the mugshot of King Charles III giving way to a nice symbolic scene of the ocean between the two countries, and Britannia is mentioned here, at least. The one-ounce silver is a medal, the one-ounce gold a $100 denominated coin. Both have a proof finish. All should be available today, and there seems to be something for every budget, which is cool. Sorry for the low-effort post, still sick, but there should be all you need here.
