The Perth Mint’s pretty Australian Swan bullion coin returns with a seventh design in gold and silver
As one of the first in the Perth Mint’s new wave of lower mintage bullion coin series, the Australian Swan was a huge hit on its release back in 2017. Maintaining the signature style defined over many years by their core ranges (Kookaburra, Koala, Kangaroo, Lunar), the swan coins seem to remain highly anticipated at their distributor, APMEX. The series continues apace, and the seventh issue has now launched.
For the 2023 coin, we have a solitary adult bird, on the water, heading into the coin. It doesn’t stray from the artistic style of earlier coins, and looks to be a nice fit for the series. We have noted that every coin has featured the swan on water, so perhaps, something a little different for 2024 might be in order. Just our opinion, of course, but we do like a bit of variety here. Nevertheless, an attractive piece.
In bullion terms, there are one-ounce silver, and one-ounce gold variants, both of 0.9999 fineness, and both sticking with the usual mintages of 25,000 and 5,000 respectively. In addition, and only for the second time, there’s a coloured silver coin with a 1,500 mintage, which does look pretty good, and the Perth Mint will also debut various proof variants as the year progresses. We’ve added this one to our guide to the Perth Mint’s non-core bullion series.
