After a 2020 that we’d all rather forget, you can understand that a few coin programmes are running a little behind. Such is the case with Scottsdale Mint’s ambitious Eastern Caribbean 8 bullion coin series, which must be hard enough to sort in a good year. So, as we enter 2021, Scottsdale still had three of the eight 2020 issues to release, but the first of those is now here.
Previous Saint Vincent & The Grenadines coins (from 2018 and 2019) have focused on a design based around a seaplane, but like some of the other issues in the EC8 range, Scottsdale have shaken things up a bit with a new direction. For 2020, the Saint Vincent coin has gone with a simple reproduction of the national emblem. A couple of other islands have had similar treatment in the series, so it’s no surprise to see it here. It’s a sensible, but relatively staid coin as a result, especially coming after the last coin, the Oriole which was a beauty.
Check out our full Bullion Coin Profile to the series, including images of all 4 variants of the 22 coins issued to date. It’s regularly updated and indeed, this one is in there. For those familiar with the series, no chnages to mintages or finishes from the other 2020 issues.
