The 2019 Double Dragon silver bullion coin returns in proof quality from LPM and the Perth Mint

Following Dragon & Phoenix and Dragon & Tiger, Double Dragon was the third in the Perth Mints Chinese mythology themed silver bullion coin series. Each of the coins relies heavily on the Asian style of art and the regions depiction of the dragon to create some fine looking coins.

Double Dragon joins the earlier issues in getting a higher quality proof version for the more collector orientated buyer. It retains the same design, but is struck to a much finer quality, and is supplied boxed with a Certificate of Authenticity. The mintage is just one tenth that of the bullion coin.

A good looking series, and this is a good looking entrant in it, so collectors with a penchant for the regions ancient myths and legends will no doubt be attracted to it. The Perth Mint is handling sales inside Australia, with LPM in Hong Kong supplying the rest of our currently chaotic world.

DESIGN: The coin’s reverse depicts two dragons chasing a single luminous pearl, surrounded by scrolling clouds. The design also includes The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. The coin’s obverse features the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2020 year-date, the coin’s weight and fineness and the monetary denomination.
