Scottsdale Mint’s third run through its eight-coin annual Eastern Caribbean 8 series continues with the second issue of 2020. The dreaded Covid-19 has put a serious dent in the issue programmes, so we’d expect a quicker schedule running forward to get back on track. This time sees the issue of Nature Isle III, the coin for the island of Dominica.
The Purple-throated Carib is one of those amazing species of hummingbird that seems to perform impossible aerial acrobatics, and it has been chosen to represent this stunning island. Quite a detailed strike for a bullion coin, it packs out the reverse face with ease and is one of the nicer designs in the series to date.
Gold and silver one-ounce variants as usual, along with the simultaneous issuance of the coloured proof versions which have often followed on afterwards of late. Good to see them back to coming out at the same time. The proof coins are also an ounce in weight and come in coin boxes. The gold bullion coin comes in Scottsdale’s innovative Certi-Lock packaging. We’ve been collating this series for ages now, so check out our comprehensive Bullion Coin Profile for more details.
