Riddle me this. When is a coin not a coin but still a coin. When its a Riddler foil

Just last month the New Zealand Mint debuted the latest in an ever growing portfolio of silver foil series when it released The Joker. First of the Batman Villains range to appear, we’ve only had to wait a month for the second. There are plenty of villains to choose from, as Batman has one of the widest and most eclectic selection of all superheroes, but it’s The Riddler that is showcased this time.

The Riddler design is a neat compilation of the many different incarnations of the character from the comics long history. Some are coloured and some are engraved, but it’s a good mix of artistic styles and has obvious appeal to comic book fans. The common obverse has a repeating pattern with the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II at its centre.

One of the mints mid-sized offerings, this is a five-gram foil of 150 x 70 mm in size. They come sealed to prevent damage and in a gatefold sleeve for display. A themed outer shipper keeps it all together. It retails for $39.00 USD and has a hefty mintage of 50,000 pieces. It should be available to buy now.
