We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again; the high-relief versions of the Perth Mints bullion coins are the best versions out there. This month the mint is launching three new coins that further reinforce that opinion. A pair of them are variants of the 25th anniversary Kookaburra which carries reverse artwork harking back to the original 1990 Kookaburra. One is an ounce in weight, the other, five.
The last coin is in gold and adorned with this years Kangaroo design. We think this is the best gold Australian Kangaroo art for some years, and it’s enhanced tremendously by the transition to high-relief. At one-ounce of four-nines gold, it’s not a coin that’s going to be enjoyed by as many people, but for those with deep enough pockets, it looks a beautiful proposition.

Featuring one of Australia’s most iconic and well-recognised bush creatures, this Australian Kangaroo high relief release is an exceptional and limited offering. Designed by Wade Robinson, the coin retails for $2,450.00 AUD (+ taxes)
DESIGN: The coin’s reverse depicts an adult kangaroo bounding across an Australian landscape at dusk, with the moon and trees in the background. The design includes the inscription AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, and the 2015 year-date.
The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination are depicted on the obverse of both coins.
Each coin’s high relief reverse and obverse are minted on concave surfaces to ensure the optimum flow of metal is achieved by the strike of the die.
PACKAGING: The coin is housed in a prestigious wooden display case within beautifully illustrated shipper, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

2015 marks the 25th anniversary of the original Australian Kookaburra coin design which was first released in 1990. The Perth Mint will release no more than 8,000 of the 25th Anniversary of the Australian Kookaburra 2015 1oz Silver Proof High Relief Coin in this packaging out of a worldwide mintage of 10,000. Designed by Dr Stuart Devlin , the 5oz coin retails for $440.91 AUD, while the 1oz coin retails for $94.55 AUD (both + taxes).
DESIGN: The reverse of the coin depicts an adult kookaburra sitting on a tree stump surrounded by eucalyptus leaves and a fern. The design includes the inscription THE AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA, The Perth Mint’s special ‘P25’ mintmark, and the year-dates 1990 – 2015.
