James Bond and his movie legacy hits the Royal Mint’s bullion bar range for the first time

Not our usual thing here, but worth a quick look at, the Royal Mint is now offering a range of three precious metal bullion bars featuring that most iconic of British charaacters, James Bond. Looking good for bullion bars, each one has that legendary gun-007 logo on one side, with the name of the latest, now delayed yet again, movie on the other.

The gun logo face also has the Royal Mint’s logo at the top and a composition inscribed at the bottom. The best part of the bar is the background field filled with the names of all 25 James Bond movies, each done in the font and style of the individual movie. The unofficial Sean Connery effort, Never Say Nevr Again, is missing, of course, but everything else in the official lineup, from Dr No onwards, is present and correct.

Three formats on offer initially, with the classic one ounce headlining in 0.9999 gold or 0.9999 silver. The range is rounded out by a chunky ten-ounce silver. Also out today is the third in the James Bond proof coin trilogy that we covered way back in March, which you can read more about there. It’s Global James Bond Day today, hence the official release, no doubt, but the bars have been up for a few days now, so why it was embargoed until today is a mystery to us…

PRESS RELEASE

Andrew Dickey, Divisional Director of Precious Metals Division at The Royal Mint said, “As a leader in precious metals, The Royal Mint’s bullion range is recognised by investors across the globe and admired for the standards of quality and accuracy that you’d expect from a world-leading mint. The latest addition is the world’s first James Bond bar available in both gold and silver – something we are all very excited to be launching.

“From Goldfinger to GoldenEye, gold has been featured heavily in the James Bond films, and we feel the popularity of the franchise, combined with the appeal of gold, will be a big hit with our customers.”

Andy continues, “Gold is regarded as a safe haven asset, and has increased in popularity this year as it has become more accessible. The James Bond precious metal bar, available in gold and silver, is the perfect way to celebrate the British icon that is James Bond.”

The launch of the James Bond precious metal bar follows on from the popular commemorative coin range that launched earlier this year, featuring three coin designs which, when placed together, reveal the famous 007 motif.
