2014 KIWI RANGE

It’s the time of year that the next in the Kiwi range of coins is showcased by the New Zealand Post and it represents their first 2014 dated release. Available in proof silver, proof gold and specimen silver it’s another in this range of attractive coins, this one being the third.

The $1 silver proof coin features the kiwi in 3D relief, raised and frosted against a polished background. The coin captures Mitre Peak in all its glory, with three unfurling fern fronds (koru) swirling around it to represent the realm of Tāwhirimātea (God of the Winds). It’s been meticulously crafted from fine 0.999 silver. Mintage is 5,000

2014 PROOF SILVER KIWI

The $1 silver specimen coin is minted from fine 0.999 silver, with a raised and polished kiwi against a frosted background and has a reduced mintage of only 10,000 this year.

2014 SPECIMEN SILVER KIWI

The premium $10 gold proof coin features the kiwi in three-dimensional relief, raised and frosted against a polished background. Crafted from 0.9999 gold and weighing a quarter of a troy ounce, the coin has a worldwide mintage limit of just 950.

2014 PROOF GOLD KIWI

Given the success of previous Kiwi Treasures coins, it’s sure to be a popular choice for international and local collectors alike. We reckon the gold one is a corker with that mintage of only 950 pieces, but all of these should be popular for the simple fact that they’re not over-produced and they’re nice. We bet the Kiwi’s themselves buy up a fair few of these so they won’t exactly be awash on the world market. Available from the end of September so get in quick.
