Minnie joins Mickey in the silver Minnieature world with a new release from the NZ Mint

A little off our usual beaten track, but here’s the New Zealand Mint’s latest silver miniature. Last August the mint launched a whole range of coins to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Mickey Mouse. In amongst the goodies was a cast silver sculpture of the iconic rodent. Standing around 9 cm in height, the 150 gram mouse was brilliantly done, and that’s coming from someone that isn’t a Disney fan. After taking a detour into the DC Comics world with Superman and Wonder Woman figures, and Star Trek with Kirk, Spock and the USS Enterprise, they’re back with Disney.

Mickey’s other half, Minnie, is reproduced in exactly the same style by artist Alejandro Pereira Ezcurra. Again, he’s done a fantastic job and we can’t imagine any Disney collector not wanting one of these. Antique-finished and with an identical specification to Mickey, this is obviously the perfect companion piece, although we’d have preferred Donald Duck if we’re honest.

Neat packaging and including a plinth adorned with the serial number, just 1,000 of these will be cast and it has a recommended price of $550.00 USD. Available now.
