Spock joins Kirk and the USS Enterprise in the New Zealand Mint’s silver miniature collection

The third of the New Zealand Mint’s Star Trek miniatures debuts today, and after the obvious Captain Kirk and USS Enterprise releases, it’s joined by the equally obvious Commander Spock. A new line this year from the NZ Mint, miniatures have also been released for Disney and DC Comics as well, and we’ve been mightily impressed with the universally high standard of them.

They all follow a familiar path. Formed in around 150 grams of fine silver and being around 100 mm in size, they employ a great level of detail. Each has been sculpted by master sculptor Alejandro Pereira Ezcurra, who clearly knows his stuff. The statuette of Spock is instantly recognisable, more so than the Kirk figure in our opinion. Standing straight with his hand extended in the Vulcan IDIC greeting, we can only imagine Trek fans loving this for the collection.

The figure comes with a solid removeable base, on the bottom of which is a plate with the serial number inscribed on it. Easy to display and antique-finished, it’s neatly packaged and limited to just 1,000 pieces. Available today, it sells for $550.00 USD and can be bought directly from the mint, or from several of our sponsors.
