Innovative spherical coin from the Mint of Poland gets a cool production video
In the running for the title of world’s most innovative mint, the Mint of Poland has been releasing some ground-breaking numismatics annually at the Berlin World Fair of Money. Over the last few years we’ve had the Fortuna Redux cylindrical coin, the Pope John Paul II ‘cuboid coin’ and the Pyramids of Egypt pyramidal coin. This year saw a real first, a spherical coin celebrating the New Seven Wonders of the World.
For those that think producing a coin like this is a relatively simple task, you couldn’t be more wrong and the new video below, produced by ACSYS Lasertechnik GmbH, the company that designed the laser machinery used extensively in the implementation of the coin, should be an eye-opener. We covered the coin release back in February and you can see pictures and read more about it in that article.
