Beautiful Polish history series, Treasures of Stanislaw August, debuts the first of its two 2020 releases
A long term favourite of ours, the National Bank of Poland’s ‘Treasures of Stanislaw August’ is a superb series that reproduces a late 18th century series of medallions commissioned by the last king of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. There will be 24 issues in the set, and this latest one is the 16th to be released. The schedule is chronologically based and follows the rulers of the region from the 10th to the 18th century. Each issue is 2oz in weight and is available in 0.9999 gold and 0.999 silver.
Dimensions ape the original pieces and the obverse side features a different textual encapsulation of the coin subject. These are gorgeous nods to Polish history and will have a high appeal to those who like, for example, the classic style issues of the Royal Mint. The images of the 16th coin, Sigismund Vasa, are here, but please check out our Coin Series Profile for a look at all the releases to date, including the outstanding back up history of each subject that the NBP provides. A second 2020 addition is due in December.
