Great Hunters: Grizzly Bear silver coin (2023 Royal Canadian Mint)

With a long history of nature coins, the Royal Canadian Mint has issued some beautiful designs over the years, none more so in our view, than the proof coins, free of gimmickry. What we’re looking at here is a coin in the ‘Great Hunters’ series, featuring the apex predator, Grizzly Bear.
It’s a clean looking design, by veteran RCM artist, Emily Damstra, which the mint has mercifully kept free of intrusive inscriptions. It’s a high-relief coin, and Damstra has done a great job utilising that to provide a good sense of layered depth. The video shows it off best.
There are two versions on offer. The one-ounce 0.9999 silver coin has a mintage of 6,000 pieces, and a diameter of 36.15 mm. It comes boxed with a COA. The one-ounce 0.9999 gold version only hits 30.0 mm in diameter, but comes similarly presented, although with a mintage capped at just 575 units. Both versions of this attractive coin are available to order now, with shipping from 14th September.
