Back last September as part of our Ancient Gods week, we covered a new Odin coin, the first of a four-coin set, from US coin dealer Gainesville. Designed by noted coin sculptor Heidi Wastweek, the original artwork looked quite excellent, especially the enhancements made to what is usually a dull obverse on a coin issued for Niue. The coin has been a long time shipping, but it’s finally here and Gainesville have revealed some new images of the finished article, as well as our first look at the packaging. Overall, it looks to us like the early promise has been fulfilled, and those that pre-ordered the coin won’t be disappointed by the end result. The coin box looks to be of a very high standard, it’s certainly imposing enough for a single coin, and goes some way to justifying the $119.00 price which isn’t high for the specification in this genre anyway. Available to buy now, only 750 examples will be struck.
