Bart is the latest of the dysfunctional Simpsons to join Tuvalu’s proof coin series

REVERSEBOX

The Simpsons, America’s longest-running sitcom, and scripted primetime TV series, is represented again on the Perth Mint’s fifth coin to feature Matt Groening’s ultra-popular creation. Now 30 seasons old and with at least 2 more on the way, this animated juggernaut will surpass 700 episodes. Although its best seasons are behind it, the show continues to amuse millions, so it’s quite surprising how few coins have depicted it – especially in an age when pop culture coins are very commonplace.

Whatever the reasons, Perth has wheeled out its stalwart coloured 1oz proof silver format for this series, surprising just about nobody. What has been produced is nice enough, and it’s beautifully presented in the mints excellent acrylic block display frame. Depicting Bart outside the Kwik-e-Mart, it should resonate with the countless fans of the show, and especially the character.

Available now, the mintage remains at 5,000 and the price at $115.00 AUD. The previous issue featured Homer.
