WMF 2017 Quickshot: Mandala 3 and two superb coins from Art Mint from last year

One of the best of the small independant coin producers out there right now, Art Mint specialise in higher-end, low mintage silver commemoratives and they do it extremely well. Producers of the highly regarded Mandala series and the popular Halloween glow-in-the-dark range, they also release some beautiful individual designs.

Last year saw a cat design with a real-eye effect and a stylish Greek style design called Oedipus & Sphinx, both completely different to each other, but equally well realised. Both coins were present in Berlin and we took a couple of snaps to share. While the World Money Fair isn’t the perfect place for coin photography, the images give you some idea of the quality on offer here.

Along with the old comes the new. There are some fine designs due through 2017, including a Spring-themed coin and a trio of 2 oz antique-finished Celestial Bodies coins that look superb. These are all a little way off yet, but present in Berlin was the third in the highly regarded Mandala Art series. We’ll have a full look at this one very soon, but below is a quick video of the new design. Called Mandala Chinese, this 3 oz antiqued coin has a red gemstone in the centre and could well be the best one yet.
