The latest Disney silver coin series stars the characters we all love to hate – the villains

The Disney juggernaut rolls on from the New Zealand Mint with the debut of a spiritual sister-series to the Princesses range from a couple of years ago. Called Disney Villains, it aims to showcase the characters that, let’s be honest, are the real stars of the movies. First out of the gate is the Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

The specification continues unchanged. These are simple one-ounce fine silver coins with a coloured image on the reverse face and the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. Packaging is a favourite of ours. The small mini-book style box looks great, is nice and solid, and easy to store. The mintage of 10,000 is quite high, but we’d imagine that Disney themselves will swallow up a large chunk of those for their enormous retail empire.

The coin should be available today and has a recommended price of $85.00 USD. It looks like several more of these are planned and they include plenty of the villainesses that are well known to Disney fans around the world.
