Scottsdale Mints Biblical Series of silver coins kicks off its fifth year with Samson Slays the Lion

REVERSESERIAL

It’s time for Scottsdale to launch its fifth year of Biblical Series coins and they’re doing so with the 25th coin to debut to date – Samson Slays the Lion. Numismatic recreations of 19th century French wood engraver, Paul Gustave Louis Christophe Doré’s expansive portfolio of bible-based woodcuts, they have been issued by Scottsdlae at the rate of six per year since 2015.

Rimless, high-relief and struck in two ounces of fine silver, each issue is antique finished. There’s been a wide variety of subjects from different parts of the Bible, and they vary in complexity and interest, although each appears struck to an exceptional standard. You would expect no less of Scottsdale, even though they’re primarily a bullion company.

The coins are packsged in book-style boxes, and there are premium options available that hold an entire year of issues (six pieces). We have a Coin Series Profile of the Biblical Series up where you can see all the designs to date. At sixty coins over ten years, this is quite the ambitious undertaking, but as we approach the half way mark, there’s little question that Scottsdale are quite capable of seeing it through to a conclusion.
