Royal Canadian Mint to debut a five-ounce domed silver Maple Leaf coin. MDM Exclusive.

UPDATE: Video has been removed by MDM. Apparently the embargo is April 4th but this look slike a coin worth waiting for. We’ll update when availability changes.

There’s never a shortage of maple leaf coins from the Royal Canadian Mint. Over the years there have been so many variations that we’ve lost count and with the Maple Leaf bullion coin being the second most popular in the world, the numbers of them are huge as well. As a result it gets more difficult to distinguish a new coin from those that have followed.

Latest to try, and to be fair with some success, is this new five-ounce silver coin with a truly domed strike – by that we mean concave on one side and convex on the other.  The video above is all we have that isn’t encumbered with watermarks at present, but gives a great look at what seems to be an attractive coin.

This one isn’t being distributed by the RCM, but by German dealer MDM who will handle the 2,000 mintage from the availability date of April 4th. No news on price yet, but the coin will come in a solid looking tapered red box. We’ll have images nearer the release date but the specifications below are accurate.
