Australian Emu bullion coin range expands with silver proof and gold bullion variants

With the Perth Mint investing much time and effort in the burgeoning low-mintage silver bullion coin market, it makes sense for them to lever that work into appealing to as large a group of collectors as they can. As a result, they have taken their new Australian Emu bullion coin and released both a proof silver variant for their legions of commemorative coin fans, and a gold bullion version for those with a stack of cash they want to convert to shiny things.

No changes on the design from the debut release back in February. The silver proof is obviously struck to a much higher standard and comes packaged in a themed shipper and a grey coin box. The mintage on this one is 3,000 pieces. Proof versions of the Perth Mint’s iconic bullion coins have been a staple of this Western Australian mint for decades and they do them well. It’s an attractive coin, so it’s good to have the option of buying the design in a higher quality form than bullion.

The other new variant is a gold bullion coin and the mintage on that one is capped at 5,000. As before, both are exclusively distributed worldwide by Metal Market Europe, a Polish based investment metal company and they’ve produced a good looking website devoted to the range.  Both will  be available to order from 01 August and will ship straight after.

MINTS DESCRIPTION

The Australian Emu is a large flightless bird that can trot great distances. Their primitive feathers, which resemble coarse hair, help them survive the extreme changes in temperature that can be experienced in the Australian outback. The emu is the second-largest living bird by height, after the Ostrich.

REVERSE: The coin’s reverse depicts an Australian Emu on a landscape featuring foliage, grass and trees. The design also includes the inscription AUSTRALIAN EMU, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the 2018-year date and the weight and purity.

OBVERSE: The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination are shown on the coin’s obverse.

PACKAGING: The Australian Emu 2018 1oz Silver Proof Coin is presented in a classic grey presentation case, within a themed shipper and accompanied by a   numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
