Just two months ago, the Scottsdale Mint debuted its first coin in a hugely ambitious new Biblical coin series, Exodus. Struck and finished in a style reminiscent of the Perth Mints hugely successful ‘Gods of Olympus’ trilogy, it was the first of a planned sixty coins to be released over the next decade.
On 2 March, Scottsdale, again through APMEX, will release the second coin and it’s to be called The Crucifixion. There are not expected to be any changes in specification or mintage. More importantly, we understand many collectors are a little deterred by the sheer scope of the series, but it looks like Scottsdale are taking the sensible step of releasing each batch of six coins as a set.
We’ll have more on monday, but the above is it for now and comes direct from the video below.
I think what we see of the design isn’t too bad, but I do wonder:
A – How the whole coin will actually look
B – Why they came out with this one as # 2 in the series (Easter maybe?)
Just had a teaser banner in which we’ve added above that contains a better look at more of the coin.
I’m not sure what, if any logic goes into the sequence of coin subjects. Will ask the question.
